Julia Davis, a thirty-year-old music composer, has recently moved into a cosy apartment in her natal city.

A few weeks after setting all the things up in the apartment, her neighbour Mrs Florence Grant, a middle-aged woman, fancily dressed and with good manners, visits her to and invite her to the janitor's retirement party.

At the party, Julia meets the peculiar neighbours. A pintoresque group of people who welcome her to the building with reservations.

Julia begins working at home and playing some music when Florence's husband comes to her house to complain about the noise. Soon, the walls are filled with informative posters demanding silence in the building.

A few days later, Julia receives an anonymous note, passed under the doorframe, that reads: “We kicked out the previous neighbour, we can kick you out now”. Outraged, Julia goes to Mr Grant’s house but she finds the door open…

Surprised, she tries to call for Mr Grant, but no one answers. So, she decides to come in and… There it is! Lying in the kitchen floor: Peter Grant’s lifeless body! Florence comes home to find Julia next to her late husband... She starts crying and screaming until the neighbours hear her and come to her house. Everyone is staring at Julia and  Mr Grant's dead body...
